The Cheque-Formação is a measure implemented in Portugal with the aim of supporting the training and qualification of workers, both employed and unemployed, with a view to increasing their employability and contributing to the competitiveness of companies.

Goals of the “Cheque-Formação” initiative:

    Beneficiaries

    The “Cheque-Formação” is intended for:

    • Employees: Who wish to improve or acquire new professional skills.
    • Unemployed: Who seek to reintegrate into the labor market by updating or acquiring new qualifications.

    Eligibility Conditions

    To access, candidates must meet certain requirements:

    • For Employed:

      A limit of 50 hours over a period of two years, with an hourly rate of €4, up to a maximum amount of €175, with the support provided not exceeding 90% of the total cost of the training, which must be proven to be paid.

      Applications can be submitted by the individuals themselves or by their respective employers.

      • For Unemployed:

      Beneficiaries attending training courses, with a maximum duration of 150 hours over a period of two years, are entitled to financial support corresponding to the total cost of the training up to a maximum amount of €500, which must be proven to be paid.

      In addition to this amount, and in accordance with Ordinance No. 60-A/2015, of March 2, a training allowance, meal allowance, and transportation expenses may be added, provided that the training entity does not provide these supports.

      • For Companies:

      Employers, in relation to their workers, are considered for this purpose as legal entities or private individuals, with or without profit motives.
